Shopify identified as perfect platform for The Lovely Keepsake Company to build new gift business

Background

The Lovely Keepsake Company is an online store with a collection of more than 400 gifts to help treasure key memories or milestones such as births, weddings, anniversaries or the passing of a loved one.

The online shop was launched in June 2015. Commissioned in October the previous year the Codebase team worked behind the scenes with the business owner from the earliest designs and with evolving business ideas.

With almost half of online shopping done on mobile devices the site needed to be usable and attractive on phones and tablets as well as desktops. To accommodate new products and regular price changes it needed to be easy to update. It was also important to incorporate a blog, social media interaction and the ability to change the order of products according to season, e.g. Christmas, Valentines, Mothers Day.

The Process

The Codebase team held an ideas workshop with the client looking at other successful, popular and admired online stores for ideas. Together they wrote a list of priorities and drafted design ideas that were worked into a stage 1 site.

The first recommendation was to use the Shopify retail platform. Using Shopify has enabled the Codebase team to continue to enhance the site with easy add-ons and Apps and allowed the business owner to do much of the regular updates themselves. Owner update was a critical element of the development as there was little budget for elaborate updates, so a straightforward CMS was vital.

Codebase continue to support the shop with design changes, research into most suitable Apps to implement and on hand assistance with more complicated updates to shop items.

The Result

Two years on, The Lovely Keepsake Company is thriving and choosing the Shopify platform has proved to be an excellent decision. Shopify is able to provide an excellent front of house experience for the customer that is driving sales and fantastic back office systems that are easy to use, maintain and update. The store is approaching it’s second year anniversary and visitors, sales and profits are all on the increase.
