Amalgamating two sites into newly designed single retail platform brings online success for Outdoor Living

Background

With a growing business, Outdoor Living has previously had two websites, one for their hot tubs and the second for their accessories. Having two sites to maintain proved time consuming and diluted the SEO effort and spend. In addition, neither had content management areas so it was a lengthy process to update even small amends, which was increasingly frustrating as the number of products online grew and changes to stock and prices were becoming more regular.

The decision was taken to amalgamate both sites onto a single website and URL.

The Process

The Codebase team worked extremely closely with the Outdoor Living in-house team to choose the best retail platform and then completely redesign the new site. The new site would now offer both the 100+ hot tubs and the 900+ accessories together.

Shopify was the chosen platform, which would give the in-house team full control over all the content. The challenge in launching the single website was to ensure the huge volume of technical specification information was correct and that the company didn’t lose visibility or visitors for either division, hot tubs or accessories, during the transition and switch over.

The Result

The single website has made a huge difference to the Outdoor Living business on numerous levels and whilst there was initially a small dip in traffic, this has now increased dramatically proving the move was definitely the correct decision.

The newly designed site has simplified the presentation of all products, thus improving the customer journey, SEO has massively improved and the Shopify platform enables the team to make changes instantly. The single site has had a hugely positive impact on sales and customer feedback.
